sinhalite

Discovered in 1952 in Sri Lanka and recognized as a specific mineral species, as previously mistaken for peridot.
Its name comes from the Sanskrit “Sinhala”, Ceylon, the ancient name of Sri Lanka. Stone of a good hardness.
